Owner Comments:
Purchased this coin from Heritage in Aug. of 2016. At first glance, the coin does not appear to be full steps but if tilted at an approximate 30 deg. angle, five full steps can be ascertained. On this date/mm combination full steps are very rare and the TPG' s are a little looser in their full step attributions. There is also a large die crack which runs from the top of Monticellos' dome to the portcullis below.
Now to get to a pet peeve of mine; the scores for the Full Step nickels which are type one reverse (Rev. 38) are waaaaay to low compared to their non- full step brethren. This in no way lessens my enthusiasm for the registry as it gives me a nice forum to showcase my grand daughters full step collection but it would be nice if NGC recognized the scarcity of the type 1 coins.
