Owner Comments:
Three 1827 varieties -- the O-112, O-113, and the rare O-149 -- share the distinctive reverse with a bold die line across the apex of the central shield point. This example is the late die state of O-113, confirmed by diagonal "wavy" lines left of Liberty's cap near the border. Beneath the 7, a pair of "erupting dentils" project curved die lines into the field. A diagnostic, arcing die crack from below 2 of the date, through 7 and stars 13 and 12 to the back of the cap confirms the late die state. Bluish-gray toning deepens at the rims with reddish highlights and strong silver luster. Minor marks and abrasions are infrequent and require a glass to view, but they determine the Select Uncirculated grade. A uniformly sharp strike covers both sides.
