This VAM has the same obverse die as VAM-15, but in a more advanced state. In this die state, a die clash mark is visible in front of Liberty's neck showing a partial impression of letter 'n' from In God we trust.

Stars 1 and 2 to the right of the date are distinctly doubled.
The reverse also shows a spike (from Liberty's neck) emanating from the eagle's right wing up to the letter "n" in "In."
