Owner Comments:

Thank you to Jeff Garrett from Mid-America. We did a swap and I must say that I felt that he was very fair and honest.

The coin is about as close to mint state as possible without getting the nod. It has the "crusty" surface that protects the original luster of a mint state coin. It has the "Wire Rim" or "Fin" (for Roger Burdette.) He has corrected me in using the term Wire Rim, which the Red Book uses, and makes a cogent argument that the feature is in fact an error. It is the result of too much metal to fit in the new dies and thus under great pressure escapes the collar up and out. Because it is not an intended feature of the coin it must be an error...

Whatever the case with the rim this coin is most beautiful, almost breathtaking in hand.
