Owner Comments:
The 1887 VAM-1A "Donkey Tail" die break is seen as a small lump of metal on the bottom of the D in DOLLAR. A die break removed a small chunk of the die and when coins were struck, metal pushed up into the break making this new feature. It is possible to cherry pick these coins and they are often found in VF-XF condition. AU coins are very tough to find. Mint state Donkey Tails are truly ultra rare!
