Here is an example of the overdate that doesn't exist. For years experts believed the second two (of a slightly different, heavier style) was used to obliterate an earlier punched 1. On two different dies used for O.101 and O.102. Today many believe this was simply a matter of a defective punch, and point to numerous other examples in the CBH series with the same diagnostics. Punch field debris is what we see, not a 1 underdate. Adding credence to this theory is the location of the supposed underdated 1. It is far too right. Regardless, this "so called" overdate is still recognized by PCGS and the Redbook, and it is still needed for the registry set.
