In line with the vision set forth by Mint Director Robert Patterson, Lady Liberty appears as a dignified and mature woman on the Classic Head Half Cent. Additionally, the national motto “Liberty” once inscribed around the top perimeter of the half-cent is transcribed on a band around Liberty’s head. The addition of thirteen stars around the perimeter of the coin representing the original thirteen colonies or states completes the obverse changes to the Classic Head Half Cent.
