Picked from the same album as the 1937-D quarter in this collection, this 39D exhibits the same olive and copper colored toning on the surfaces. The difference is that the toning is more pronounced on this coin's obverse and is distributed more evenly, a hint of russet peeks through at the rim of the coin. The only real drawbacks keeping this quarter from a 66 is the hit on Washington's neck, and the hit below the I in IN, nevertheless this coin is gorgeous.
