Owner Comments:
A fully brilliant and moderately prooflike premium Gem, the obverse field displays the prominent mint-made striations common to the With Star type. Long regarded as a semi-key issue, the Grant Star is many times tougher than its No Star counterpart. The star has no significance, and like the contemporary Alabama and Missouri types that come with and without the state number, was a device used to create additional sales in a decade when Silver Commemoratives were generally struck for one year only, and at a single mint. Lot# 8013 at Heritage Auction 2005 St. Louis, MO (CSNS) Signature Auction #372 Pop of 50 only 8 higher (pop has not changed since 2004)
