Second year of the portrait design and this variety has the upside down mint mark and assayers' initials that appeared in the previous year. Slabbed purchase from the Stack's Bowers November 2013 Baltimore Auction, Lot #21019. KM 106.1; FC-54a; El-78. Very well struck example, with colorful toning around the rims, especially on the lower obverse. This attractive specimen was bid very high and I had to pay quite a bit more than I was expecting. The choice Charles III portrait dollars from Mexico City fetched very high prices in this auction.
