In addition, a few authenticated examples of 1881 Type 1 "sin barba" ("without beard") are known to exist -- perhaps a dozen or so. The seven examples range in condition from MBC to SC-/SC. These rare 1881 Type 1 "sin barba" coins are regarded as overdates using 1880 dies ("1881/0") and you can see evidence of this on each coin.
