Owner Comments:

Until I got serious about acquiring a nice example of this issue (and did not wince much at parting with so much cash), I did not appreciate how difficult it is to locate an attractive one. Most are ugly, because they are dipped out, banged up, Washington isn't wearing his dentures, or the toning is not attractive. Thankfully this piece came along, but the pictures don't do it justice. The satin luster is complimented with few marks and purplish gray, pastel blue, gold and orange toning on the obverse, with similar lighter colors and green-gold on the reverse. The reverse toning is not nearly as uneven as the photos suggest. This is a well struck (decent boot definition) example of the common DuVall 1B variety.
