Lyman Allen #2.09 (KM #163) - Mintage: 4,803,000
This issue is fairly common, but Red and RB examples are rare.
This particular coin is exceptionally well struck, nearly full red in color, and exhibits great eye appeal. It fits perfectly into my collection and I was very pleased to obtain it.
Varieties:
------------
ALLEN-2.09a - S/S - At least two distinct over mint mark varieties exist. I can attest to this fact since I currently own an uncertified example of each one. The first looks very much like the "horned 'S' variety" of 1908. In the second, the under mint mark appears to the right of the dominant block S and the "1" in the date appears doubled to the left at the top. The S/S variety is not recognized by either NGC or PCGS.
Date acquired: 10/14/2012 (already graded by NGC)
