Mintage: 491,143.
NGC Census + PCGS Pop.: 1 total. This is the sole example certified by either service in any grade. It is an "Only Pop."
Type 2: "con barba" ("with beard"). Portrait of Alfonso XII at age 23. Engraved by Gregorio Sellán.
MSM = Morejón, Sala, Mendoza.

Very rare, very few survive.

Alfonso XII died from complications of tuberculosis and dysentery on November 25, 1885, three days short of his 28th birthday.

Some coins authorized in 1885 were minted posthumously in 1886. Spanish peseta coins are unusual in that they contain two dates: the year of coinage authorization by law (seen clearly), and the year of actual mintage (stamped incusely into the stars to either side of the authorization date). This coin is an example of the two dates being different.
