Owner Comments:

1881 NGC 67. The date is widely repunched south. The 1881 has a low business strike mintage of only 68,800 pieces, and high grade survivors of this production are very rare. Fletcher-1 is a die pairing unknown to proofs, and the numerous slender die cracks further attest to its business strike origin. This lustrous and lightly toned Superb Gem has a penetrating strike and exemplary surfaces. From The Dr. Frank J. McCarthy Jr. Collection (Heritage Long Beach Signature 02/07).
