Owner Comments:
Charles IV was the second son of Charles III. He was a poor leader and failed to sustain the efforts of his father to prevent the collapse of the Spanish Empire. This coin is the last of the Charles IIII 8 Reales series from Mexico City and it marks the year when the monarch was forced to abdicate his throne, first to his son Ferdinand VII in March and later to Napoleon in May.
