Owner Comments:

This issue has vibrant luster and is usually quite well struck, although it can display softness on the thumb and center skirtline areas. This coin is usually lightly to moderately abraded and finding one with clear fields is difficult and usually occurs only at the gem level. This issue can be deeply and originally toned or bright white.

Varieties:

None

The thumb on this coin is FULL, as well as the hand and all the separations and split details, which are boldly defined (knuckles show). There are little to NO contact abrasions in the fields or on the central devices....I find that amazing for a MS 63--especially THIS issue. The hair below the bonnet is extremely detailed. The ear lobe detail is there but it is ever so slightly weak. The skirtlines in the center are not 100% but that is typical for the 17 D Reverse. This one is AT LEAST 3/4 fully defined almost all the way up to her knee and weakness is noticeable only on the very highest points. Quite enough skirtline detail visible, in fact, to make it look quite attractive.

NOW......for the luster--it is a VERY BRILLIANT and VIBRANT white coin! I know that you've heard me say this before but---Luster AND detail looks better than MANY higher graded coins I've seen, as well. I say this NOT trying to be repetitive or to exaggerate but rather only to say that I have done my job, as a cherrypicker, CORRECTLY.

This is a rare coin that has been very undergraded. You can keep your 15K+ MS 65 pieces, as this one looks GREAT to me, and is 'ALL THERE'.

This coin issue has risen alot in value within the last five years, so I feel that the investment potential is VERY good for this issue.

Mintage is at 1,940,000. There are just over 1100 MS survivors for this issue. Pop for MS 63 coins-NGC 67/116 & PCGS 87/198 as of 9/2011.
