Owner Comments:

1837- PCGS AU58. Large date, small 5. Breen-6511, McCloskey 1-A, R.4. Significant mint luster remains around the devices and contact marks are minimal. The reverse shows evidence of die polishing. A very pretty coin.

McCloskey variety 1-A has a double forehead curl on the obverse and the 6pm ray of star seven points to the bottom of the first curl. The date contains a "block 8" as opposed to the "script 8" on die pairing 3-C. On the reverse, there is a berry on the branch and the 5 is small and somewhat distant from the arrow's feathers. The obverse horizontal white scratches are on the surface of the slab.
