Owner Comments:
INITIAL ACQUISITION: A few dozen original bank wrapped rolls (OBW) acquired in a trade with another Collector Society member in 2010 (my silver bullion for an olio of 5c, 25c and $1 OBW's).
SLAB: Submitted in 2010 with other examples from the OBW's for bulk grading with PCGS. Several coins earned MS 66.
OBVERSE: Tiny cuds on Jefferson's nose resemble warts. A small lamination error area, the shape of a birch leaf, exists between the eye, nose, and cheek. There are very few nicks, although there seem to be some splash issues (mint wash? oil at the bank sorting machines?) which are a minor detraction. My photo lighting exaggerates the splash effects.
REVERSE: This is a very clean strike. The same splash issues as the obverse cause a minor detraction.
SALE STATUS: Not for sale. A few other MS 66 coins untoned are available. Also available are (1) plenty of MS 65 untoned; (2) a few MS 65 coins with spectacular gold toning on the reverse.
