Owner Comments:
The San Francisco Mint produced over 35 million Roosevelt dimes dated 1948. Although the date has one of the lower mintages of the series, survival estimates suggest there are hundreds of thousands of 1948-S Roosevelts in mint state condition.
The 1948-S here is blast white, 100% spot-free, and has great luster and eye-appeal on both sides. It has a good strike and fine details with all torch lines very clear, well-defined, and uninterrupted. When I originally purchased this coin, it was encased in NGC eighth generation of slabs, used before the company began FT designations. After sending the coin to NCS for conservation and then to NGC for designation review, the company added the FT designation.
Overall, this is a very nice dime for the collection with very good eye-appeal after conservation. NCS really brought out the beauty in this coin.
