Owner Comments:

1876-CC Half Dollar, MS64 Scarce Large CC Variant
1876-CC 50C MS64 NGC. CAC. Large CC, WB-103, Die Pair WB-2, R.3. Ex: "Col." E.H.R. Green. Of the 40 die marriages for 1876-CC half dollars, the Large CC mintmark is the least available with only three varieties known. The Large CC dies were carried over from previous years, and were last used in 1873. This specific die marriage is from a reverse die that was also used in 1871, 1872, and 1873. The key diagnostic is the die crack along the top of letters (AME)RICA.

This half dollar has wonderfully attractive steel-blue and amber toning over lustrous fields. It is strongly struck and has remarkably abrasion-free fields and devices. A short horizontal planchet flaw is noted just behind the mouth of Liberty. An exceptional Mint State Carson City half dollar.
