Owner Comments:
Interestingly toned Great Britain Victoria Jubilee Head double florin (four shillings) with nice original luster and pretty strong strike. There appears to be a tinny bit of rub on a few high spots on the coin, accounting for the AU58 grade, but these could also be original flat areas that did not flow into die. Devices are essentially untoned except for base of Elizabeth bust. Toning in mostly light wispy gold but also has some purple and dark blue-green in a few areas, more concentrated along the rims. Light contact marks and scratches are present commensurate with grade. Cost: $79.52 on 7/22/13 on eBay from M. Rosenbaum (worldnumismatics1776). Original mintage of coin was 1,185,000. At time of purchase, NGC Price Guide listed coin value at $125.00 in XF and $285.00 in MS60; net estimate approx. $250.00.
