Owner Comments:

Upper-End MS64 1916-S PCGS half that is very original skinned with attractive natural toning. CAC approved for PQ eye appeal.

The scarcest of the first-year Walkers, only 508,000 pieces were struck in San Francisco. Also the LOWEST mintage for ANY S minted coin, even lower than the coveted 1921-S!

This is a noteworthy coin, even for someone who is assembling a Gem-only set. There are no discernable marks on either side. The matte-like surfaces have light gray to silver patina on the obverse with slightly deeper rose patina on the reverse. It is VERY sharply struck throughout, especially for a 1916-S. Very smooth fields and great pearly luster, as well.

Important varieties:

V 101 – Filled S

600-700 total MS survivors known with about 335 known at the MS 64 level. PCGS 206/108 & NGC 129/64. Only 19 MS 64 coins (both NGC/PCGS) have been CAC approved with just 12 higher.
