Acadia NP is located in the state of Maine. It was first established as a national monument in 1916. It was established as Lafayette National Park in honor of the Marquis de Lafayette in 1919. The name was changed to Acadia NP in 1929. It is the first National Park east of the Mississippi River.
The Acadia National Park quarter is the third of 2012 and the 13th overall. It features the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse overlooking Acadia's rugged coastline. Love this one!
