Purchased on eBay on 5/15/2011 in an auction.
A Business strike Sacagawea Dollar graded MS69 is a "modern rarity". This is one of only two 2011-D Sacagawea Dollars graded MS69 by NGC. It is the only Early Releases coin graded MS69, and the other (regular holder) coin resides in the #1 ranked MS/SMS Sacagawea Dollar set. An interesting factoid is that the other MS69 2011-D Native American Dollar sold on 29 Apr 2011 in a "Buy it Now" eBay transaction for $4000. Wow!
As a type-set coin for my 21st Century Type Set, this coin is one of only three Native American series coins graded as MS69 in a business strike for the entire series which began in 2009 (a variation on the Sacagawea dollar with the eagle reverse from years 2000-2008). There are no 2009 coins, and one 2010-D business strike coin graded MS69 from NGC. For 2011, there are only 2 coins (both minted in Denver) graded MS69 by NGC. PCGS has not graded any Native American series business strike dollars as MS69 (the coins from 2009 to present).
