The American Samoa Quarter was released on July 27, 2009. This was the fourth release of the program. The quarter features an ava bowl, used to make a ceremonial drinks during important events; a whisk and staff used in special Samoan ceremonies and represented the rank of Samoan orator; and a coconut tree on a peaceful shore in the background. The inscription reads "Samoa Muamua Le Atua", meaning "Samoa, God is First". (Amen!)
