Owner Comments:
This is quite a coin to be sitting in the backup listing. Bottom line, it is the third finest known of an issue that is second rarest of the half eagle denomination (trailing only the 1847-0). The coin is a lovely eample for the grade and it is in an older NCG holder (believed to have been last graded around 1996/7). The surfaces are prooflike and have nice natural yellow-gold color. Ther are some scattered marks which limit the grade but by today standards, an MS61 rating would not be totally out of the question. The strike shows some typical weakness at the centers but the overall quality of this coin is realloy quite remarkable for a date that i smost often seen in VF grade.
