Owner Comments:

Sometimes the perfect coin comes in a less-appreciated grade such as XF45. This one has the characteristics of having an extended stay in a coin envelope. Rich lavender, navy, pink, brown, and gray colors have worked into every crevasse. The coin is well struck with some high point wear that is easily born by the details. Notable features such as the two dots on the reverse under the "I" are plainly visible helping with the ID on the die pairing. Think of the history behind this date. War of 1812. Battles fought on US soil against a foreign power. And this coin was sitting in a bank vault someplace. I have the occasional thought of replacing this in my #1 registry set with a higher grade but finding a finer example in any grade I think would be impossible. This one shall remain in its rightful place in my collection in the first string on a great team of fantastic Busties.
