Owner Comments:

My first Morgan I bought from a coin store was back in 1989. I was using my 1921 Morgan as a reference at the time. I was looking through those cardboard flips when I saw this one marked "1878 Morgan Unc". It was reasonably priced at the time so it was a no brainer. In later years I noticed in a red book that there were some variants, so I dug the coin out and took a look.... WOW.... an 8TF. Only 749,500 were minted this way based on the research I did!!!

I knew it looked good and I sent it in. NGC felt it looked good as well! Even though the original coin may not be the highest grade.... it's special to me as I found it and no one knew it was an 8 TF.

This current coin will lead the SET!! My personal one is a MS62, but this one is an MS64. Maybe someday I'll upgrade it.

During this year....
Rutherford B. Hayes was President

Bland–Allison Act, leading to first minting of the Morgan dollar.

Posse Comitatus Act signed into law to limiting the US Government from using the US Army to enforce domestic policy within the U.S.
