Owner Comments:

Production numbers for the uncirculated ASE continue to decline in 2013 from their all-time high in 2007. The Annual Uncirculated Dollar Coin set keeps rolling on in 2013, and the coin in this entry is from a 2013 A.U.D.C. set. The change in appearance which began in 2011 with the uncirculated ASE was disappointing to some collectors. Why? Well, place an uncirculated ASE with a mint year of 2011 or later alongside any bullion ASE and there is no distinguishable difference in the two coins. Some will say that the only noticeable difference between an uncirculated ASE from 2011 to present and any bullion ASE is that one has a mint mark and the other does not. And IF this is true, then we’re paying a premium for a collector coin that appears to be nothing more than a bullion coin with a mint mark. The burnished ASE’s of 2006 thru 2008 have a distinctively satin, non-reflective, matte, burnished appearance. But that changed in 2011. See what some conspiracy theorists say happened in 2011 to the uncirculated (burnished) ASE with the 2014 coin comments.
