Owner Comments:
1909 and 1910 had multiple varieties that appeared in both years. First, we had two leaf structures on the wreath of the reverse. The Maple Leaves (also called Round Leaves) and the Holly Leaves (also known as the Pointed Leaves.) Identifying the two is rather simple and best observed on the first two leaves on the right side of the bow. On higher grade coins you will see points on the Holly Leaves along with more vein detail in the leaf itself. A quick tell is on the bottom leaf where the point of the leaf turns slightly upward. However, you may still differentiate between the two by looking for separation of the leaf from itself in the Holly Leaves which is not visible in the Maple. As such, even on a very fine coin you should still be able to see the difference.
