Owner Comments:

The 1867-S is one of several early Motto Seated Quarters from the San Francisco Mint that can be extremely challenging to locate at all levels of preservation. Only 48,000 pieces were originally produced, and the issue undoubtedly saw extensive circulation on the frontier. Problem-free survivors are seldom encountered, and they become progressively more difficult to locate the closer one comes to the Mint State threshold.
