Owner Comments:
The Liberty gold coins were first minted in 1838. The quarter eagle, half eagle, and eagle all used a design similar to the Coronet cent, while the double eagle used a slightly modified design. These gold coins were minted until 1907/1908. There is only one type of the Liberty quarter eagle; it never used the motto "In God We Trust" like the other denominations.
Although this type had been around for a long time (since 1840!), relatively few of them were minted in the 20th century. With a combined mintage of under 1.5 million from 1900-1907, it is the scarcest multi-year type coin of the 20th century.
This high-grade example is clear of any marks and has great eye appeal.
