Circulation Strike Mintage 2,178,000

The literature states that the coins of this date and mintmark are usually poorly struck although in hand, I somewhat disagree. Despite the camera's poor image of this coin, I was pleased with the sharpness of the key/major details (vis a vis the literature's description), and only light/even wear to the coin when viewed in hand and under high magnification (7x).

On the obverse, wear spots are evident, although the head shows over 50% of details. Wear is most evident on the left hand with less than 40% of detail visible. As with the 1921-S, the left leg is rounded, but worn from the knee (which is flat) to the ankle. Gown lines are visible.

On the reverse, there is a prominent scuff mark which detracts from the attractiveness of the coin, but I was pleased to see again that the Eagle's breast and legs are well-separated by prominent feathers between them. Breast feather and right wing tip feather outlines/ends are slightly visible albeit mostly flat. Feathers on the left leg are mostly absent with weakness seen at the Eagle's left shoulder as well which is consistent with the literature. However, what struck me most about the reverse is the clear visibility of the eye's pupil which I did not see in the few other examples in this year/mintmark and grade.
