Mintage 44,006,000
Minted at West Point and San Francisco without mintmark
This lustrous, blast white 2014 American Silver Eagle has fine, smooth textured fields and sharply defined details on all the prime focal areas on the obverse and reverse. With original mint luster, as well as no spots, hairlines, hits, scuff marks, abrasions or other defects, it is a gorgeous specimen in MS-70 grade. Although not Mint marked, this coin was probably minted at West Point since West Point coins are usually of much higher quality (as this one is), whereas (according to my research) the San Francisco minted coins often come quite milk-spotted. Census data showed about 32% of the 2014 American Silver Eagles submitted to NGC graded MS-70.
Numismatic News: 2014 silver prices were relatively stable. This, combined with affordability, led to an unprecedented demand for physical silver for collectors. As a result, 2014 saw record setting American Silver Eagle sales of over 44 million coins.
Although 2014 would end up being a record setting year for bullion strike sales, the Mint only sold 4,775,000 2014 American Silver Eagles in January 2014 since authorized purchasers were unable to place orders for the 2014 bullion coins until January 13, 2014 due to the Mint's continued inability to secure quantities of silver planchets to meet demand.
2014 average silver price: $19.08/ounce
