Owner Comments:

This Top Pop Is what we classify as an “Oh-Wow!” Peace Dollar. Our opinion is that it is the most eye appealing coin in the entire Set! A shimmering Blast White, Tough Denver Date displaying a very unique Die Break, and virtually a near full strike. Probably the finest eye appeal one could ask for in a Peace Dollar. The 1926-D was produced to the extent of 2.3 million pieces, and, while not rare, this issue is not really common either. Still, examples can be located with relative ease in grades up to and including the MS65 level of preservation, but at the Superb Gem level it is a significant condition rarity. Only 15 Total 26-D Peace Dollars have been graded MS-67 by both PCGS and NGC and, of course, only this coin is finer. This coin at MS67+ has a NGC population of one and is the finest known example ever encapsulated by NGC. This nearly flawless piece exhibits razor-sharp striking details. The surfaces are absolutely Blast White and covered with a bright, glistening luster preserved in a state of quality like it just came off the press. The coin is absolutely Brilliant throughout. Roger Burdette states in his "Guide Book of Peace Dollars" that a very unique attribute of the Obverse 1926 dies is the obvious manual strengthening of the work "GOD." It is a feature of ALL 1926 Peace Dollars, regardless of the mint implying the modification was made to the Master Die Hub that all production dies were created from. This Top Pop coin is unique at one of one with the MS67+ grade and was last sold at a Heritage auction in January of 2006. This coin Was Pedigreed to the Pamela Henard Peace Dollar Collection in 2018.

Mark Salzberg, NGC Chairman and Grading Finalizer:
Like a lot of D-Mint Peace Dollars, this one has a die crack. It runs from the W in WE up through the first T in TRUST. There’s another crack on the reverse. It’s an incredible coin — perfectly struck, perfect surfaces, fantastic luster. It has to be one of the finest known, if not the finest.
