Owner Comments:

The 1988 dollar was issued to celebrate the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea. There were 191,368 coins produced by the Denver Mint and 1,577,025 proof coins minted by the San Francisco Mint. Patricia Lewis Verani designed the coin's obverse, which shows an Olympic torch being lit by the flame from the Statue of Liberty. The reverse, designed by Sherl Joseph Winter, shows the iconic logo of the Olympics (five interlocked rings) between two olive branches, with the inscription "USA" above the Olympic logo. Despite the relatively high mintages, these dollars are difficult to find in a perfect MS70 or PF70 condition.
