Owner Comments:

In 2009, the Mint issued the Abraham Lincoln Silver Dollar to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln. The obverse features a bust of Abraham Lincoln, which I see as perhaps one of the most distinguished renderings of him. This is a great looking coin. The reverse features an inscription that reads: “We here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain — that this Nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” (The final words of the Gettysburg Address.) Later in the year, the U.S. Mint released a Lincoln Coin and Chronicles Set that featured four one-cent coins produced by the San Francisco Mint with reverses that show various stages of Lincoln's life. The coins show images of Lincoln's birthplace in Kentucky, a view of his formative years in Indiana, his professional life in Illinois, and his Presidency in Washington, D.C.

There were 125,000 uncirculated and 375,000 proof coins produced by the Philadelphia Mint. The MS70 and PF70 graded dollars are plentiful and easy to find at an affordable price.
