JNDA 02-6. This is the second version of the 50 yen coin introduced and was in production from S34 (1934) through S41 (1966). It was notable for the introduction of the center hole which carried through to later 50 yen designs. Similar to the preceding years, this also featured a chrysanthemum, but now the blossom is seen surrounding the hole. As with the prior coin this one is made from nickel and many were melted to provide the raw material for subsequent coinage.
Diameter 25 mm, nickel, weight 5.00 grams.
