National Park Service (2016) Proof Silver Dollar. Mintage: TBD. The National Park Service (NPS) has had stewardship of America's national parks since 1916. It oversees approximately 400 sites covering some 84 million acres in the United States and its territories. In addition to national parks, the NPS includes monuments, battlefields, historical parks, other historic sites. The silver dollar obverse features Yellowstone National Park's Old Faithful geyser and a bison. The reverse depicts a Latina Folklórico dancer and NPS logo, representing the cultural experience found in America's national parks.
