Coin Details

Item Description: 1/2E 1814MO JJ
Full Grade: NGC MS 62
Owner: Abuelo's Collection

Owner Comments:

MEXICO Ferdinand VII. 1814-Mo JJ AV 1/2 Escudo. NGC MS62. Mexico City. FERD · VII · D · G · HISP · ET IND. Laureate head right / Crowned oval shield. KM 112; Fr.-57.

Fantastic little coin. As of February 2016, only one graded higher by NGC (MS63), none by PCGS. Also, substantially better eye appeal than the NGC MS63 coin (2790966-002).

This coin has been previously auctioned twice by Heritage:

2010 CICF Signature World Coin Auction #3009, lot 22328. From the sale’s catalogue: “Ferdinand VII gold 1/2 Escudo 1814-Mo JJ, KM112, MS62 NGC, flat colour on the king's face but otherwise highly lustrous”.

2013 CICF World and Ancient Coins Signature Auction #3024, lot 25127. From the sale’s catalogue: “Ferdinand VII gold 1/2 Escudo 1814 Mo-JJ, KM112, MS62 NGC, a gorgeous straw-gold coloured specimen with vibrant luster and nearly invisible handling that precludes a finer grade”.

It has been also sold twice in eBay:

June 12, 2013: 10 bidders, 22 bids, 10 days (item number 121120080226).

February 5, 2016: Best offer, 2 buyers with 3 offers (item number 252278056817).
