1944 Mercury Dime, MS68 Full Bands
Amazingly Deep Obverse Clash Marks
1944 10C MS68 Full Bands PCGS. This is simply an ultimate type coin in this incredibly popular series, one of the highest-graded and nicest Mercury dime examples of any date that most collectors are likely to both encounter and actually be able to afford. Even in MS67 Full Bands, the 1944 issue must be considered common, when PCGS has certified nearly 100 submissions in that grade. But in MS68 Full Bands, this piece is tied for finest with only two others (7/15). By far the majority of Mercury dimes certified in this grade are the ubiquitous (and amazing) 1939-D vintage, making this 1944 an absolute and conditional rarity as well as a Registry Set essential. This untoned, pristine piece also shows the most amazing, deep obverse clash marks we (meaning nearly the entire Heritage cataloging staff) have ever seen on a Mercury dime.
