JNDA 03-2. The 100 yen coin (along with the 1000 yen), was minted to commemorate the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
The obverse has the Olympic torch/flame along with the government legend and date kanji. The reverse design features the Arabic number '100' superimposed over a sun, and with an olive sprig at the top separating 'Tokyo' and '1964'. Very few coins have the Gregorian calendar dating used, but as this was intended for a larger audience, both dating systems were included.
Diameter 22.6 mm, 0.600 fine silver, weight 4.80 grams.
Mintage 80,000,000.
