Owner Comments:

The 1873-CC No Arrows Half is about twice as rare as the same date with arrows. It is extremely hard to find in grades higher than EF. This is one of only 4 coins in the AU-50 grade. The Mint Act of 1873 slightly increased the weight from 12.44 grams to 12.50 grams and ordered old obsolete coins to be melted. Nearly all of the 122,500 no arrows Carson City halves were melted and restruck with arrows. Only a few halves released by the mint prior to mid-February survive today. Most of these coins are in the AG to EF grades with VF coins being the most common.
