I like toning in most configurations on coins. That is because much like the wear on a coin tells a story of it's history, toning on uncirculated coins tell that same history through sometimes rich colors that impart great beauty. Other times more interesting patterns of toning come through like the maroon and brown flecks of toning on this quarter. It makes me wonder where it spent all its time untouched since the day it was plucked to gain those little bits of color.
