Out of the 8,808 1939 proof Liberty Walking Half Dollars, only two have been certified by any of the top four grading services as possessing full cameo contrasts for a total 0.023% of the original mintage. This is the finest of the two coins, with the other coin being a single PF64 CAM. The coin exhibits strong liquid like mirrors with obvious cameo contrasts enveloping the devices on both sides. Despite the way the images may portray it, the sun is fully frosted in hand.

Ex-Ozarks Proof Singles Estate. NGC's stringent and very difficult "cameo" designation practically never gets bestowed upon Walking Liberty half-dollars, but when it does happen, odds are the date will be 1942. This and the 1938 issue have produced most of the known "cameo proofs". Add to that the virtually unimprovable technical quality, and one has a gem of incomparable merit. The surfaces show no toning at all, nor are there any hairlines visible "through the plastic" even under careful examination. The reverse appears to features the slightly more prominent contrast, but both sides very plainly show nice lovely juxtaposition between the polished, mirror-like fields and the finely textured devices. Out of the 21,120 1942 proof Liberty Walking Half Dollars struck, PCGS has certified 3 and NGC has certified 6 examples as having full cameo contrasts for a total of 9 pieces or a total of 0.0426% of the original mintage; however, this number is likely skewed by resubmissions and crossovers.

CAC - Ex Patriot Collection.
This coin is an absolute treat to view in hand, and appears highly original. It is highly reminiscent of the bag toning that is typically seen on Morgan Dollars, and the coin shows a very convincing progression of light peach, to blue, orange,fusha, magenta, aqua, green, pink, and finally a deep forest green color, that is typical of what one might expect from a Morgan Dollar. Moreover, it apears that there is a crescent shape on both the obverse and reverse suggesting that this could possibly be a crescent toner from where another coin laid on top of this coin in an original mint bag. This was very common in the Morgan Dollar era. The coin is simply stunning, and is highly lustrous in hand. The luster accentuates the vibrant colors in hand. It is probably the finest I have seen in all of my research. The images have not been altered or juiced in any way (other than combining photos), and the picture is an accurate portrayal of this astounding jewel.
CAC awarded a green sticker to this coin indicating that it met CAC's high standards for originality and is a solid quality coin for the assigned grade.
