Owner's Description

A Mark Feld coin!

1875-S Twenty Cent Piece PCGS MS63 $1,250
A pleasing example, especially considering that it's "only" an MS63, a number of which are anything but pleasing. The combination of the near-white reverse and the light violet toning on the obverse makes me think that this one was once dipped and has since retoned on its own. It is struck from lightly clashed dies and is lighter in color and considerably better looking in person. Looking at the images, I'd pass, but looking at the coin, I'd buy it, so I did.

******************************
1875-S TWENTY CENTS
******************************

Mintage:
Circulation strikes: 1,155,000
Proofs: 0

Designer: William Barber

Diameter: ±22 millimeters

Metal content:
Silver - 90%
Other - 10%

Weight: ±77.2 grains (±5.0 grams)

Edge: Plain

Mintmark: "S" (for San Francisco, CA) below the eagle on the reverse
