This $5 coin commemorates the 50th Anniversary of Mt. Rushmore National Memorial. In foreground of the obverse is depicts the American Eagle, the symbol of the strength, and freedom we enjoy in this country. In the background is the famous Mt. Rushmore carving of our Presidents: Washington; Jefferson; Lincoln; and Roosevelt. The carvings represent the struggle of our independence, idea of the government by the people, idea of equality, and 20th century role of U.S. in world affairs. Reverse reads, "Mount Rushmore National Memorial" to commemorate the great works of Charles Rushmore.
