View Coin   United States 50C 1945 NO "AW" NGC MS 63 The 1945 No "AW" Walker is the coin that got me started collecting Walking Liberty Half Dollars with varieties. I cherrypicked a lightly-cleaned, AU No "AW" from a local pawn shop. Figuring that my No "AW" would not grade, I asked a fellow registry member if I could make an offer on an extra he had, and he kindly accepted.

This variety (actually a die state) is the product of an over-polished die. Cherrypickers' Guide lists this as a very rare die variety with only 9 to 16 in existence. I have seen quite a few of these for sale on auction sites (easily more than 16), but always for a ridiculous price. The No "AW" is also seen on many proof 1941 Walkers, a few 1918-D Walkers, and, apparently, very few 1943-S Walkers.

A total of 11 have been certified by NGC with the highest at an MS66, two at MS64, and three at MS63.
View Coin   United States 1C 1823/2 N-1 NGC VF Details This 1823/2 N-1 Coronet was found in a small box among some of my grandpop's belongings after he passed away. Also found in that box was an 1879-CC VAM-3 Morgan Dollar. Both of these coins were uncertified. I find it interesting that two scarce coins were found in such a small collection! It makes you wonder if someone along the line noticed the variety in the 1823/2 or knew it was a tough coin to find. This coin could be upgraded with a common date, but I'm going to keep it in my type set because of the sentimental value.

Being that this coin is completely brown and my photography skills are abysmal, it was tough getting a good picture. I did some editing so you can see some of the details.
View Coin   United States $1 1879 CC TOP-100 VAM-3 CAPPED CC NGC F 12 I found this Morgan among some of my grandfather's belongings after he passed away. It was in a small box with a 1823/2 Coronet, a Seated half dime, and his World War II dog tags.
