For my 36th birthday, from Heritage. This was my first purchase from a major auction house (though it was a "buy it now"). I intended to get a Carson City Morgan dollar that day, but Cathey suggested that I get something in a type that I did not already have, so I got ten bucks from Carson City. It's also my first coin to feature the newer, jazzy NGC logo as well as the spoked EdgeView. For all my gripes about how I thought it would make the coin look dinky, it looks a lot more substantial in person.

Purchased from J.J. Teaparty, a company in Boston, this coin was found at a coin show in Grapevine near Dallas on 06/14/2008. Recent economic trends had pointed me towards investing in gold, and further research pointed me back towards coin collecting, but at a much higher level than in my student days as a casual enthusiast.
